Pre-Conference Training (Monday 9th October and Tuesday 10th October)

Monday 9th October

BC Analytics - Starter (Monday 9th October, Full Day)
This day is for both Horizon and Symphony users. The starter kit will take learners through the basics of using BC Analytics, including Navigation and Preference Settings, Delivered Reports and Dashboards, Building Reports and Creating Dashboards

Cost: $250 per person

API and Web Services Refresher (Monday 9th October, Full Day)

This class is open to libraries with a current API Subscription. Session is based on the Mentor class BC916 BLUECloud API: Web Services Workshop and will review REST calls for GET, POST methods, Formatting JSON body elements, differences between our legacy Web Services and the new ROA Web Services, How to interpret requests and responses from various Web Services as well as What is new in the API Workbook.

Prerequisite: Participants must have attended the initial four days API Workshop at some time.

Cost: $100 per person

Symphony System Administration (Monday 9th October, Full Day)

This year’s Symphony System Administration class will focus on topics that we get asked about a lot and are structured around the popular Symphony Training Concepts classes available through Mentor - Holds Management, Secret to running Sym Report, Exporting Reports in XML, Key to Indexing, Customizing Staff Logins and Label Designer.

Platinum Premier subscriber bonus - customers with a Platinum Premier subscription are able to register for this class at no cost.

Cost: $250 per person

Enterprise Starter - Administration and Rooms (Monday 9th October, Full Day)

This session is based on Mentor class (BC828 BLUECloud Enterprise: Adminitration Rooms). Attendees will learn the administrative functions of setting up and managing Enterprise, This course is for system administrators or other library personnel specifically tasked with setting up and profiling Enterprise. After completing this course you will be able to manage Security and Authentication, Displays and Themes, Rooms, Search Limits and Library Favourites, Search Configuration and Federated Configuration.

Cost: $250 per person


Tuesday 10th October

BC Analytics - Advanced (Tuesday 10th October, Full Day)

This course is for both Horizon and Symphony users. The class will be split when Stat and Historical cubes are looked at. Topics are

- Joining Tables and Deriving Metrics,

- Historical vs Stat Log Data,

- Reports as Filters,

- Reusable Prompts, Filters, Groups and Metrics

- Importing Data

- Documents

Cost: $250 per person

Creating Custom Reports Refresher (API) (Tuesday 10th October, Full Day)

This class is open to libraries with API Subscription. This seesion provifdes a refresher of the Writing Reports section covered in the full API Workbook. Topics include;

- Layout of the delivery report directory (Rpt script)

- Tools used by the reporting system

- Prompting side of reports and the configuration files required to write the prompting phases

- Run side of reports and the layout of run scripts

- Printing and formatting reports

- Suggested design cycle for creating reports

Prerequisite: Participants must have attended the initial four days API Workshop at some time.

Cost: $100 per person

BC Central, BC Cataloguing and BC Circulation (Tuesday 10th October, Full Day)

This popular session has been offered at previous COSA Conferences and provides an overview of the navigation of BC Central (previously known as Universal Admin), as well as the creation of Institutions and Staff Users, and defining priviledges. The session also covers specific setup relating to BC Cataloguing and BC Circulation and provides an introduction to each of these modules.

If your site is not already setup with a BC Central account please open a case with Support to get this done and bring your laptop to the session in order to be able to look at your own instance.

Cost: $250 per person

Enterprise Intermediate - Refresher (Tuesday 10th October, Full Day)

This session provides an opportunity to revisit key configuation options within Enterprise Administration, some are part of the Enterprise Training Concepts classes available in Mentor. Topics to be covered are Marc Maps, Creating Filters and Configuring EDS.

Cost: $250 per person

Note:

1. All prices are in Australian Dollars and are exclusive of taxes unless otherwise noted.

2. Institutional COSA Members are entitled to two (2) Member Registrations. Additional registration can be purchased by selecting Non-member Registration.

3. Full conference registration includes access to all conference sessions held from Wednesday 11th October - Thursday 12th October (inclusive).Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included each day.

4. All tickets (except for the Day ticket) also include the cost of the welcome drinks at the Hobart Function and Conference Centra (Tuesday 10th October) and ticket to the Conference Dinner & Tour at the Cascade Brewery (Wednesday 11th October).

5. Conference One Day Pass includes access to all conference sessions on the day of the Pass only. Excludes tickets to Welcome Drinks and Conference Dinner.

6. Refunds – please contact Melanie Chin at Melanie.chin@sirsidynix.com if a refund is needed. Full refund is available up until 15 September 2017. After that 50% refund available until 30 September 2017 and no refund if cancelled from 1st October 2017. This is because commitments will already have been made with the hotel regarding catering and we will be unable to fill the space at short notice.

Number of rooms are limited and is based on first come first serve basis. If you are a member with RACV or any other Auto club you might be eligible for the Auto Member price. Please check with the hotel if you are eligible. Rates are per night, exclude breakfast which can be added for additional $24.00 per person.

Customers of SirsiDynix Australasia Inc. (COSA) is an independent user group for sites using one of SirsiDynix's integrated library systems (Symphony, Unicorn, Horizon and Dynix Classic). COSA is financed through institutional and personal membership subscriptions. It promotes communication amongst its members and with similar user groups around the world. The group holds an annual conference, organised in conjunction with SirsiDynix, to allow the user community to exchange knowledge and ideas as well as facilitate networking and training opportunities. COSA also maintains a private listserv (cosa-l) to allow for communication and discussion on issues that pertain to the Australian, New Zealand and Asia Pacific region and its customer base.
